Minya Governorate is one of the governorates of Upper Egypt. It suffers from many problems that are widespread in the regions, especially in Upper Egypt, including the low economic level, where it ranks second in unemployment. Women also suffer from marginalization and negative discrimination in education and obtaining job opportunities. There is also a large gap between education and labor market requirements among newly graduated young people, which hinders their penetration and entry into the labor marketTherefore, within the framework of the state’s interest in implementing the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals and from the standpoint of the association’s mission of economic empowerment for women and youth and the introduction of new information technology systems to serve projects to support the role of entrepreneurship, this is where the idea of the project came to manage their businesses effectively. By giving them the basic knowledge necessary for success in various areas of partnerships, stimulating and enriching the culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in Egypt, and accelerating the growth of entrepreneurs to become global market leaders in the future..
The idea of the project came based on a study conducted in 2005, funded by Canadian Aid ( ProjectBdssp (to spread the idea of self-employment and provide technical support to women) and it was printed and published in Arabic and English under the title (Women and the Challenges of Self-Employment) to find out the obstacles to women’s integration into the labor market. The study showed that there are some obstacles such as: - Lack of experience and technical skill
- Complications in administrative procedures.
- Lack of financing and high loan interest.
- Lack of insurance protection and lack of health insurance for them.
- Lack of nurseries near work areas.
- Accordingly, the support unit was established to provide non-financial services and formulate a package of services to contribute to overcoming the problems highlighted by the study, represented in preparing feasibility studies - technical consultations - craft training - administrative training - establishing an employment office - marketing - transformational services for the loan unit affiliated with the association.
In keeping with the requirements of the times and market developments, an information technology training center to serve small and medium enterprises is being modernized in Minya Governorate. The center will serve as a model to help women develop their skills in project management through information technology to start new projects and manage them successfully, which will give them self-confidence and benefit from increased production, improved product quality, and obtaining better marketing opportunities. This leads to increased income, a higher standard of living, and a narrowing of the gender gap between males and females.
