This call targets civil society institutions operating in the Near East and North Africa region, especially in the regions of the Maghreb, North Africa, the Levant, and the Arab Gulf states, in addition to Iraq, Yemen, and Sudan.

These consultations serve as an important regional platform that brings together actors in the fields of agriculture and food security, with the aim of strengthening the role of civil society in political dialogue and formulating recommendations that contribute to the development of more sustainable, comprehensive and resilient agricultural and food systems in the region.

Through this participation, civil society organizations will be able to engage in interactive discussions with experts and representatives of civil society organizations from various countries of the region, to discuss the most prominent challenges facing the region, such as:

1) Climate action, combating desertification, and natural resource management.

2) Sustainable water management and governance of irrigation systems.

3) The fragility of food and agricultural systems in light of wars, conflicts, and protracted crises.

4) Empowering women, youth, and small farmers and strengthening value-added chains.

The consultations aim to come up with practical recommendations and joint initiatives that reflect the vision of civil society and contribute to supporting the work of the FAO Regional Conference.
